Gotham won its division, finishing first in NYC in division 3 at the end of 2018.
Gotham qualified for playoffs in 2008, but lost that first playoff match. That was then, this is now! On April 1, 2019, Gotham hosted Rochester Colonials for the Regional quarterfinal, and won 52-31.
In what we think is a first in the country, if not the world, Gotham's Gold (2nd XV) side played a curtain raiser match in the MCU Park stadium in Coney Island, at the invitation of Rugby United NY, New York's professional rugby team, part of Major League Rugby (MLR). Gotham Gold was at home to Washington Scandals, beating them 27-26, on Saturday April 20, 2019.
On May 24-26, Gotham traveled to Columbus Ohio to compete in IGR's North America East championships. Gotham Gold played up into the middle bracket, but did not place for the Plate. Gotham Navy, however, went undefeated, winning a nail biting final against a strong Washington Renegades A side, to bring back the Capital City Cup and the title of champion.
After celebrating, Gotham will as usual be getting back to off-season training over summer 2019, to prepare for more victories ahead. The gaols are to win the Division again, advance in Playoffs, and win the Bingham Cup in Ottawa 2020.
Gotham has a proven record of success, but top notch coaching and equipment takes time and money. Please consider supporting The Bingham Fund with a cash, securities or in-kind donation today. All significant donors will be acknowledged here, and at team events this fall.
